It Takes a Village

Checking in on me, my people have covered them all
A visit, an email, a text, a call.

A knock on the door brings Aloha with Plumeria so bright.
And in comes the Starbucks; my Tall Flat White.

Roses of all colors enter the house with a ding of the bell
Visits from longtime friends and new ones I don’t know as well.

Vegetarian lasagna baked in a foil pan
Tasty vegan stew definitely not from a can.

Potato chips of various persuasions
Buttoned-down shirts required for this surgical occasion.

Salmon hot off the grill
Bone broth for the pot to add in what we will.

Eggs discovered among the barren shelves, I can’t believe my eyes
Beyond Burgers, onion rings and of course, my favorite french fries.

Bearing gifts of food
Bearing gifts of time
Bearings gifts of rides
These are my people. Yes, they are mine.
