Cleaning For a Reason™
Every 90 minutes, a woman who has cancer is matched with a housekeeping service that will provide a free professional housecleaning. Thanks to Cleaning For A Reason, a nonprofit organization dedicated to providing free housecleaning services for women undergoing cancer treatments.
It’s no easy task to fight cancer, and this foundation is making a difference, one home at a time. So far, over 4,000 women have been helped. And over 900 housekeeping services partnering with Cleaning For A Reason have surpassed the $1 million mark in donated cleanings.
“It’s very rewarding to be a part of something that has helped so many women,” says Debbie Sardone, the founder of Cleaning For A Reason. She started the nonprofit five years ago after realizing there were so many women battling cancer who didn’t have the time or energy for housekeeping and who couldn’t afford to have their homes professionally cleaned. She says she wants women to be able to focus on their health, not their housework.

“Can you imagine not having the energy to just push a vacuum?” says Debbie. “I am so happy to be able to help in this practical way.”
Patricia Dew of Athens, GA, attests to this. She says that after she was diagnosed with breast cancer, several of her friends forwarded the Cleaning For A Reason website to her. She was matched with a company near her home, and the results were more than helpful.
“They were professional, kind, and understood the unique needs of cancer patients,” she says. “They not only did an amazing job on the house; they were kind and thoughtful, too.”
