Survivor – Revive Yourself Tonight

by Peter M. Johnson

Inspiration image

Tonight …
when your drowsy head
hits the double bed
and the covers reach your neck,
Eye-flash the room gloom
and remind yourself to find
to unwind your thankful mind.

Ditch the kinks; dump your shrink,
this exercise you’ll often see
with just one blink,
revives your wounded psyche.

Your fears reduced, your guesses solved,
tomorrows’ needs held over,
in one breath what you could, resolved,
so quickly does this bliss take over.

Stretch your thoughts ‘til they’re smoother,
like pulling taffy ‘til it’s sheerer
your mind is freed, your plans are clearer,
your heady engine, tuned, runs sweeter.

Your wits unscrambled, your day rehashed,
your body’s upper floor has crashed.
Soothing slumber reached, flip easy
through your dreams ‘til you wake zzz.
