Focus on Melanoma and Skin Cancer
Lymphoseek Approved to Help Locate Lymph Nodes in Patients with Certain Cancers
The U.S. Food and Drug Administration has approved Lymphoseek Injection, a radioactive diagnostic imaging agent that helps doctors locate lymph nodes in patients with breast cancer or melanoma who are undergoing surgery to remove tumor-draining lymph nodes.

New Therapies for Treating Advanced Melanoma
While melanoma, the most serious form of skin cancer, is highly curable when detected and treated early, the same is not true for more advanced cases of melanoma – particularly when the disease has spread to lymph nodes or other areas of the body.

New Treatment Approved for Most Common Type of Skin Cancer
The U.S. Food and Drug Administration has approved Genentech’s™ (vismodegib) for the treatment of adults with basal cell carcinoma (the most common type of skin cancer) that has spread to other parts of the body, that has come back after surgery, or that their healthcare provider decides cannot be treated with surgery or radiation.
