Bald Ego

by Belinda Toro

When we look in a mirror, we see an image,
It’s an object or a person we recognize …
Yet, we tend to ask ourselves, “What is it?”
And then we begin to analyze …

Inspiration image

Pretty, sweet, old, tired, and yet so alive,
Beauty in such a new light …
Worried, sad, scared, but so strong,
Who or what are we trying to fight?

An image of a glowing heart fades,
But the person looking in stays …

Her eyes are glossy and full of tears,
Her smile shows courage and no more fear …

There is no hair, her head is bald,
Her ego grows long and tall …

She laughs aloud and says,
“You won my dear, there is no more Cancer here!”
